About Us

Talk E-waste is a website set up to make information on e-waste more easily accessible. It also aims to show people how to make a difference in their community, be it by creating a school campaign or recycling privately.

What Does E-waste Affect?

Air Pollution

One of the most common ways of disposing e-waste is incineration. The burning of plastics in devices releases toxic fumes like dioxins and furans. Once e-waste has been burned, we are still left with the ash which has to go somewhere.

Land Pollution

After incineration, e-waste ash is commonly dumped in landfills where toxins spread through the soil and into any groundwater that may be below. This makes both the soil and the water unfit for agricultural use.

Water Pollution

Though e-waste has recently become less of a threat to life under water due to the increased popularity of disposing e-waste in landfills, oftentimes, when e-waste ash is refused by landfills, the stuff is dumped in the ocean.

Social Justice

In many places, workers at e-waste recycling plants are put in unfair working conditions, some without proper safety gear and some, child laborers.

E-Waste Initiatives Around the World

Get some inspiration from schools with other e-waste campaigns and start an e-waste initiative at your school!

The Forgotten Fortune

The Forgotten Fortune is a campaign run by the students of IKNS in The Kingdom of Bahrain. Their campaign, started in 2022, focuses on reaching different communities in Bahrain. They collect e-waste from many different sources, students and businesses alike, and take them to the only registered e-waste recycling plant in Bahrain: Crown Industries.
